Meet the author

Van Sheets has participated in leadership transitions in a wide range of institutions, including as co-chair of the successful 2015-16 rector transition of his church.

He has been active in Episcopal churches with membership from 500 to 6,000, in Texas, California, Virginia and Massachusetts, including as senior warden in San Francisco and Dallas, church treasurer, acolyte and verger, Bible study leader, delegate to the Dioceses of California and Dallas, and leader of confirmation classes, Mission & Outreach and Pastoral Care initiatives, stewardship and capital campaigns, and both clergy and lay workshops for the Episcopal Parish Network.

He has been an accomplished business and nonprofit CEO, and serves as an advisor or board member for a wide range of organizations. 

Van earned an AB from Duke University and an MBA from Harvard University. He and his wife have been married for 38 years and have three married daughters. His avocations include mountain biking, travel, food, and digital communications.
