Meet the author

Van Sheets has participated in leadership transitions in a wide range of institutions, including as co-chair of the successful 2015-16 rector transition of his church.

He has been active in Episcopal churches with membership from 200 to 6,500, in four U.S. time zones, including as senior warden in San Francisco and Dallas.

He has been a successful CEO in business and the social sector, and serves as a board member or adviser to a wide range of organizations. 

Van earned an AB from Duke University and an MBA from Harvard University. He and his wife have been married for 34 years and have three young-adult daughters. His interests include mountain biking, travel, food, and writing.
